Max’s eyes snapped open, he heard screams. K.C.’s screams.
      He jumped from his makeshift bed and burst through the tent flap, a red, flatbed truck was rumbling away on the mountain road. Two masked figures were holding a screaming, pale figure with fiery red hair by the waist. Max broke into a run, trying to catch up with the truck.
     “MAX! MAX!” K.C. shrieked, “HELP! MAX! PLEASE! DON’T LET THEM TAKE ME! PROMISE YOU’LL FIND ME! PROMISE!”
       One of the figures grabbed her head, forced it back and emptied some liquid into her mouth. Her big golden eyes looked fearfully at Max before rolling back into her head.
