Alright, like I said, I am going through and editing EVERYTHING. Here is the very beginning, before chapter one =) I just did all of this in under an hour, it is totally different than the original one. Tell me what you think, and if anything needs to be changed let me know.
I sat on the cotton sheets of the bed I had been provided. My shoulders hunched over as I watched my feet dangle about an inch above the floor.
A quick knock at the door and a voice, “Emily, we’re ready.”
My head whipped towards the voice and I slowly stood up. I took a few hesitant steps forward. The woman at the door smiled a reassuring smile. She took a step back and held open the door. I stepped through the door and quickly side-stepped away from the woman. Max put his hand on my shoulder and whispered, “It’s okay, don’t worry.”
I looked at him, he was grinning. But I knew better, it wouldn’t be okay. It would never be okay.
I grinned back slightly and he started to lead me to the next room. We entered another door, this door was reinforced. Max pulled me inside and the woman closed the door quickly and locked it.
“Thanks Shelly.” Max said and shooed her away.
“Max, whats going on?” I asked quietly.
“Everything will be okay, don’t worry.”
“Max, seriously, whats gong on?” I asked shrugging his hand off of my shoulder.
“Just relax, you’ll be fine when you wake up.” he said.
I shook my head. What did he mean, ‘when I wake up’? Then it occurred to me what he meant... I rushed to the door looking desperately for a way out. Max jumped forward and grabbed me around the waist. He easily lifted me off the floor until I calmed down.
He finally set me down and I pushed him away. I stopped in my tracks when I saw the other people in the room.
“Emily...” Max said from behind me.
I growled, “Shut up! You aren’t my brother! You never will be!”
He took a deep breath and said, “You can make this so much easier on yourself.”
I closed my eyes and ignored him. Max took a step towards me. I turned a slammed my fist into his jaw. He fell back, and the other people surrounding me jumped forward to restrain me. A hand closed on my arm and I kicked that man in the stomach. He fell back into a tray of medical instruments. Max again grabbed my shoulder, I shrugged it off and ducked under an arm flying through the air. I kicked Max’s leg out from under him, and he stumbled backwards. Another person shoved me into a wall. I crashed to the floor and quickly jumped to my feet. I blocked another flying fist. One of the doctors in the room gave me a nice hit to the stomach, I quickly recovered and gave him a kick to the face. He fell to the floor. A woman ran at me with a syringe, I snatched it out of her hand and threw it across the room. I punched the woman’s nose and she doubled over in pain.
The only people standing was me, and Max. Both of us leaning against a different wall. He was closer to the door, as I was completely across the room.
“Emily, you have to listen. All of us are just trying to help.” Max said just above a whisper.
I glared daggers at him.
Max wiped his mouth clear of blood, and stood up straight. He was a few inches taller than me. Max was no match for me, but this situation was life or death. My life or, my death. I could beat him...
I got to my feet and took a breath. I closed my eyes as Max ran at me. I side-stepped and ducked. He stopped himself from hitting the wall and slowly turned to me. I opened my eyes in time block a hit to my face. I hit my fist on the side of his head, he barely noticed.
He grabbed my wrist, “I don’t want to hurt you, sister.” he spat the last word.
I shoved him away and kicked him in the chest. He back-pedaled a few paces and then quickly progressed. He punched me and I fell to the ground. While I was on the ground He slammed his foot into my stomach. I let out a cry of pain, and he kicked me again. I spat blood.
As he was about to kick me a third time, I caught his foot and pulled it out from under him. He fell to the ground, which gave me time to stand up. I ran to the door.
There was no way to escape. I scratched at one of the locks with useless stubby nails. I froze.
A stabbing pain in the back of my neck. My whole body turned to ice.
“Good night, sleep tight.” Max whispered wiping blood from his mouth again and pulling the syringe free from my neck.
My veins slowly turned to fire as I fell to my knees. As I was about to fall forward into the door, the door slid open.

is this kind of like a
is this kind of like a continuation of the prologue of the book? It was very good anyways!
Thanks!
Thanks! My friends think I'm crazy for re-writing this. But I was just reading through this to get some inspiration, and there was so much that I didn;t like. So now I'm just non-stop writing.
Yes this is the prologue or preface or what ever you want to call it. I was just too lazy to write that =P
