Earth Day is an awesome day to raise awareness for our planet Earth. Reuse and recycle your old t-shirt into something new and unique by following these six easy steps. These tote bags come in handy for holding anything from books and homework to groceries from the grocery store. When you are done making one, make another and another to share with your friends and family!
Here is a photo of my t-shirt tote bag:

items you need:
→an old t-shirt you no longer want
→scissors
→a sewing machine (optional)
→marker and a bowl (optional)
If you don’t have a sewing machine, that’s okay! You can sew using a needle instead. However, a sewing machine makes the process go much faster!
- Lay the t-shirt on a clutter-free table and snip the sleeves off of the t-shirt.
- If you’re going to use the marker and bowl, place half of the bowl over the neckline of the tee and then trace around it with your marker. When it’s time to cut the neckline out, it will be neat and straight. If you already have an amazing, steady hand, then you don’t have to use the bowl and marker.
- Cut out the neckline.
- Now, flip your tee inside out. Whether you are sewing by hand or using a sewing machine, make sure you sew the bottom of the t-shirt together. You can put two or three rows of stitches in the bottom to make it super strong.
- Reverse your t-shirt so it isn’t inside out.
- There you go! You have now made a stylish t-shirt tote bag!
