How to Make a Statement Necklace with Fabric Scraps & Scissors

I made this necklace/accessory in about ten minutes with just fabric strips and scissors. It's incredibly easy and fast, and you can use up all those extra bits of fabric you don't know what to do with!

Step 1: Find some fabric scraps and pull together the ones that coordinate (or go crazy with a rainbow necklace).

Step 2: Ragged edges are ok, but cut off any selvage (edge)

Step 3: Cut two or three long strips and tie them together.

Earth Day Project: T-shirt Tote Bags!

Earth Day is an awesome day to raise awareness for our planet Earth. Reuse and recycle your old t-shirt into something new and unique by following these six easy steps. These tote bags come in handy for holding anything from books and homework to groceries from the grocery store. When you are done making one, make another and another to share with your friends and family!
Here is a photo of my t-shirt tote bag:

items you need:
→an old t-shirt you no longer want
→scissors
→a sewing machine (optional)
→marker and a bowl (optional)
If you don’t have a sewing machine, that’s okay! You can sew using a needle instead. However, a sewing machine makes the process go much faster! Smile

Survival Kit in a Film Canister

Everyone's had one of those moments when they've been out and really needed some little, common object - but haven't had it. Next time this happens to you, be prepared with a tiny kit that fits in a pocket, any little bag or wallet, in little spaces in your car or backpack, and in the palm of your hand.

First, find a film canister or other little tube. There aren't many film canisters all over the place anymore, but ask your parents or grandparents and they'll probably have one somewhere. Next, stuff it with these little items:

  • $1.50 in quarters
  • A band-aid
  • A folded tissue or paper napkin
  • A trial/travel size tube of lip balm (Blistex and several others come in containers tiny enough to fit)
  • A Q-tip (folded to fit if need be)
  • A toothpick

Sewing tips!

Smile When sewing somthing, always turn it inside out and leave an end open and then flip it back to the right side then sew that end up. *Note: When sewing a pillow, dont leave a whole end open, just a small space, but it has to be big enough to stuff the filling in. When threading a needle, DONT wet the end and then put it through cause if you do, it will make the thread get all tangled (I learnd this from past experience) *If you are using a sewing machine, keep the clamp strait

Simple Sewing

A lot of people enjoy crafts and art. I am one of those people. I have been sewing on a sewing machine sense I was 6. I LOVE fashion so I have started a website* for it. I also love embroidery! Any thing modern, simple and homemade, I love. I could sew for hours if I could get the chance! I can take a pattern (an easy one of the web) and change it in to something great. Lately I have made my baby sister a pair of felt shoes. They were so simple to make! To make one pair, it took me 1-2 hours and I enjoyed every bit of it! I always remind my self, "Keep it clean, keep it simple, don't make it sloppy." I hope this will help you in your sewing!
